I would like to exclude HTML tags in my search criteria at my full-text
search i.e. when I look for for body word I desire the search to return the
body words which included in the body field but I don't want to include
<body>or </body>.

This can't be done easily. The best way to fix this is to convert your html
content to text content using a html parser or filtdump -b (there may be
licensing restrictions with this).

I thought that if you set the doc type to HTML the tags are ignored. We had
this issue with searches for colours finding matches in FONT definitions.
Changing the doc type to HTML solved the problem

I am interested to know if you came up with a solution to this as I am
trying to do exactly the same thing. I will more than likely be converting
our textual data to binary data and specifying the extension as html.
Another thought that I had though - could a person not use an "HTML" word
breaker as such and then specify the language as HTML. I will look into and
let you know if I found a way of doing this.

|||Sorry to be late in reply;
My final decision was building two columns in the database one with html
tags and the other without html tags so when I perform my search I do it
over the column that doesn't has any html tags, I found this the easiest and
fastest technique.

Excel to XML to Dataset to SQL - As HTML
Main goal is to parse an Excel Worksheet and save it as a HTML table to SQL.
I have a web form (aspx) where a use is able to browse and upload an excel documnt. I then select the data from the worksheet and use a OleDBDataAdapter to build a Dataset from the Excel data. I fill the dataset with the data from the Excel document.
What I need to do from this point has me lost. I need to re-engineer the excel data into a HTML table to display within a orgianl asp code. I was planning to build the html table...save it as a large string to SQL database table. And then from asp page - read the table and re-display it.
Im not sure how to do this...anyone with experinece, please help.
Other things I have tried. After I have the excel data saved in the dataset...I can read it via Readxml and display it within the asp.net code. So, I dont knwo if it is possible to save this dataset information as HTML to a string...?

Why not save the Excel as XML instead of HTML to SQL database? As I know you can display XML document in HTML form by using XSLT. So I prefer to save the XML documents as BLOB data into SQL database. You can push the XML data as binary array into SQL Server.
If you're using SQL2005, you can load XML files (actually all BLOB data, including images) into SQL database by using simply OPENROWSET with SINGLE_BLOB option. You can take a look at:

Excel report migration + html display
Hi,
We have the following 2 problem areas in our application:
1) We have a excel report that calls a SQL SP which returns 13 resultsets.
These resultsets are then read by a excel macro and a report is printed in
the worksheet. We now want to move this to SSRS 2000. I was trying to find a
easy way out by embedding a excel object in the report and use the same
macro. Is this possible? If not then can anyone suggest any workaround? For
the SP's returning multiple resultsets, we are thinking of creating 13
datasets each of them will have their own SP.
In order to convert to SSRS 2000, do i need to recode the entire logic of
the macro in SSRS? or is there any better way.
2) As displaying of RTF is not supported in SSRS 2000, I was thinking of
writing some code which will parse the RTF and spit out a formatted HTML. Is
it possible to display HTML in the report? If not, then is there any
workaround?
3) I read in some of the posts that supporting HTML in SSRS will be a
security hole-what does that mean?

and deliver those files intact. If you put VBA code in the template, it

Excel rendering crash with parameters. Ok as HTML.
Hi,
I am trying to render report I have with a matrix on it using the web
service.
It works fine if I render to excel format with no parameters provided
to the report.
It also works fine if I use the exact same code and just change the
render format to "HTML4.0" instead of "EXCEL".
As the error only happens with Excel specified and parameters provided
could this be a bug?
I had a search in this group and didn't find anyone else reporting
this so I may well be doing something silly.
Any advice would be apreciated, code and the error message returned in
the SoapException.Detail.Text follow. Please let me know if you need
any more details about what I'm doing

Am an trying to render with parameters of "CA" and "Drink" for Param0

The HTML file is produced, but still .Render() with Excel as the type
crashes.

I am trying to render report I have with a matrix on it using the web
service.
It works fine if I render to excel format with no parameters provided
to the report.
It also works fine if I use the exact same code and just change the
render format to "HTML4.0" instead of "EXCEL".
As the error only happens with Excel specified and parameters provided
could this be a bug?
I had a search in this group and didn't find anyone else reporting
this so I may well be doing something silly.
Any advice would be apreciated, code and the error message returned in
the SoapException.Detail.Text follow. Please let me know if you need
any more details about what I'm doing

It is an OLAP grid with drill down and filters.
Am an trying to render with parameters of "CA" and "Drink" for Param0
and Param1 respectively.
The HTML file is produced, but still .Render() with Excel as the type
crashes.

Excel Output Missing Last row
My excel outout is missing the last row of the recordset. HTML, PDF, and the
other outputs are ok. This is a simple report with no grouping. Please help.Derek,
Have you tried to add a blank footer row to the table?
This way if the bug does occur it will just drop a blank footer and not your
data. (I know this is idea is just a band-aid not a fix but MS seems to be
ignoring this problem.)
I have not tested this theory myself because I have only seen this happen a
few times and each time I tried to dup the results everything worked fine.
Do you have a report that has a regular problem that you could test my theory
for me?
