Exchange Server or NS filtering email addresses?

My Notification Services (NS 2.0 SP1) application works fine, except one big problem:

I am using a built-in SMTP provider, and notifications are delivered ONLY to those subscribers who have email addresses within our company's domain.

That is, all subscribers with addresses like someone@.ourcompany.com always get their notifications, whereas any other email addresses do not work. I tried my gmail.com, aim.com, and optonline.net email addresses, and none of them ever received a notification, not even once.

As soon as I change a particular subscriber's email address from whatever to anybody@.ourcompany.com (whether I do it via SMI or directly in the NS subscribers table, does not matter), it works again.

So, something is filtering emails based on the recipients' addresses.
I do not know for sure whether it's done by NS or by the SMTP server, but the situation is the same regardless of whether I use my local machine's SMTP server or our company's MS Exchange Server 5.5 (I specify it only in the InstanceConfiguration.xml file).

Could someone point me in the right direction as to where to look for what's causing this kind of filtering, please?

Thank you very much!Answering my own question...
Here's what the Exchange Server 5.5 returns in an exception message:
The server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was: 550 Relaying is prohibited.
It's a spam-filtering -related feature.

excessive network traffic

Hi all,
I have a Win2000 server with Exchange2003 and SQL
server2000 SP1.
The system seems to work OK, but after about 1 hour after
startup, the SQL server starts to generate networktraffic
that completely floods the network. It is now impossible
to log into the server, get on the network or access the
internet from any workstation that is connected to the
network. In about one hour more than 50.000.000 network
packets are sent into space. When I disconnect the
internet connection, it just continues to do so. When I
stop the SQL service in the service manager, traffic stops
and everything works again.
Any thoughts?

* Short Stack Dump
Any help will be appreciated.The AV is happening in the SQL Server engine. I've moved your post to the SQL DB Engine forum. Maybe someone here can help you.

Dan|||Alexandr,

Are you still getting this error? Can you start the service manually?

From the fragment of the output you have provided there is no way to tell what is wrong.

We either need a full dump file (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\log\SQLDump0001.txt) or paste Short Stack Dump.

Regards,
Boris.|||Thanks for reply Boris.
I have reinstalled SQL Server on a brand new OS and it works fine now.

With the previous installation - i cannot start service manually - it gives the same error. I've tried to install SQL Express - and it gives the same error again.
I tried to start SQL Server even not as a service but as a console app - and it gives that error.
That may be happend because I already has installed SQL 2000 and MSDE on my PC.

Regards,
Alexandr.|||Alexandr,

An instance of SQL Server 2005 should coexist just fine with SQL Server 2000. I don't think that is the reason for the AV you were getting, although this is just a guess.

Since you have reinstalled the OS, I wonder if you have kept the dump file(s) that were created when the server generated the AV.

If yes, could you paste short stack dump here and we can take a further look.

Thank you,
Boris.|||Boris,

SQLServer 2005 works fine with SQL 2000 installed on the same box.
I haven't kept the stack dump or log files.

Thanks,
Alexandr.

Excel Rendering Problem w/ SP1

Since installing SP1, RS does not render color information to Excel
correctly. The report in question renders to all other formats correctly. The
error occurs on a variance report where individual cells of a table have
color dynamically assigned based on the variance values (green = good, red = bad). Instead of formatting the individual cell based on the logic embedded
in the report, the entire column retains the color code of the first column.
Any help?Hi,
I had a problem while rendering to Excel before the SP1.
After SP1 is installed Excel rendering works fine.

in my report. I want to see background green if the record is active, red
otherwise
so my expression for BackgroundColor is :
=iif(Fields!Active.Value="True","Green","Red")
Active field has a boolean type in SQl server.
I'm using MS Excel version 2003 SP1, 11.6355.6360 and colors of the exported
excel document is correct.
Excel version may cause rendering problems. I was having one with version 9.

Excel Pivot Table and Time Dimension

I’m using the OLEDB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0 in Excel 2003 to get to my OLAP cubes in SQL Server 2005 Standard SP1.When I use Time as a Page filter in an Excel Pivot table, the dropdown looks like this (May_2006 is the default period):

-2006
-Qtr2_2006

+May_2006

+Apr_2006

+Jun_2006

+Qtr1_2006

+Qtr3_2006

+Qtr4_2006

+2004

+2005

I checked the field settings in Excel and it is using the data source order option.When I browse the dimension, the Time members are shown in chronological order.I’ve concluded that this behavior is a result of setting the default month in the Time dimension.Anyone know if this is simply the way it is when working with a defaulted Time dimension in Excel?

Moving to SQL Server Analysis Services forum.
