exe to export reports to pdf

Hi,
We have a need to create something like a win app that would be scheduled to
run on the web/reporting server, query the db, pass some parameters to
reports and auto-generate them in pdf format (to be stored in db or on the
same box) to make them available for the website visitors.
Have anybody done something like this before or seen an example of? We tried
to do something similar when reporting services when it just came out but
were unable to implement. Would really appreciate any advice on how to
tackle this!Thanks! Are you using data-driven subscription feature for this? Is it only
available with Enterprise SQL edition?

Excluding Export Options on Report

In the rsreportserver.config there is a <ExcludedRenderFormats> element, which allows you to list the rendering formats that are excluded from the export option for all reports.

Is this the only way you can change this? i.e. can you change this through Management Studio or Report Manager, and also can you exclude the export options for a single report rather than having to do it for all reports?

>|||Here comes another bug. If you have a matrix with subtotals, you might
experience some difficulty while exporting reports to excel.
Here is the procedure I followed:
-Get rid of the total column.
-Deploy the report, check if export works.
-Put it back in.
-Deploy the report, check if export works.
When I apply column color changes it failed, and gave me the error message.
Even without color I am happy.

Excell row 33 problem

I don't know if any of you have encountered this problem...
When I export to Excel, if my report has 33 rows, last row doesn't show.
If it has more rows or less it displays okUse a empty text box at the bottom of your report and try.
Probably its where the page break happens.

EXCEL XP - Need xls not MHTNL

I am running EXCEL 2002 SP#. When I export to Excel it shows the name of the
report in quotes in the filename box (i.e.; "My Report.xls"), however, it is
default saving as an MHTML document.
Is there any way to force an .xls extension?

Excel to MS SQL

Hai all,
I want to export the data from Excel sheet to SQL database. In the Excel sheet one column contains the date value and non date like 0 and blank. I want to transfer this to my table by changing the format to dd/mm/yyyy.

If I open and format the column to date, and if I export then in the table i am getting different formats ( based on the client machines Date format , The column in the table is Varchar becaust the Excel sheet column will contain date and other non date like 0 , blank etc )

Now how can I export the Excel column that contains date , 0 and blanks to the table in the database with date format dd/mm/yyyy and null for non date values?

I did have the same problem with importing excel data to MSSQL.
After some fighting I just imported data to Access and then to MSSQL.
It was needed to do not often. :)

Aravind.SNot sure about the Sheet1 name, but when you create a report header, make
sure that the end of the header text box lines up with the end of a text box
in your detail.

Excel report

I asked this question a while ago, but never received any help. If anyone
knows about this, your answer is much appreciated.
I export a report with links into Excel. When I open the Excel report and
put my mouse over the link, the URL is displayed. This is unacceptable
because the URL contains hidden data that we pass between reports.
Can this be prevented?

be shown when Reports had been exported to Excel formats. Have I understood
you? Correct me if I was wrong. However, I am not sure whether you still
want this URL to be valid? (For example, it dispalyed as "Hello" and it's
internal URL was http://www.mydomain.com/hiddendata, do you still want
http://www.mydomain.com/hiddendata stored somewhere in Excel or it could be
delete, you just want it be displayed as "Hello"?)
Based on my scope, unfortuantely, this behavior is by design in Excel. As
we all known, when you type an entry in your worksheet that begins with any
of the following prefixes (http://, www., ftp://, mailto:, file://, news:,
\\), Microsoft Excel automatically creates a hyperlink. Also, I am afraid
there is no options in Reporting Services could be used to realize such
functionality.
However, I think the following KB might be help in Excel side, but you will
have to do it manually

As I have said that it was by design in Reporting Services to export to
Excel and there is no options available doing so, I am afraid there is not
a better way doing this except two workaround below, which seems rather
Ugly :(
First of all, you will have to change your raw data from http://www... to
'http://www...
Secondly, write the marco codes as KB:Q291209 described and save the file
in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\XLSTART (in case you are
using Office 2003, if not, you will find the correct path to put the file
to be loaded when Excel started in KB:Q291209). Even if you have put this
marco to be loaded automatically, the excel file will still be open as all
hyperlinks available, the links will be invalid as expected only when it
get the focus and then lose the focus.
AGAIN, I understood that neither of the workaround seems done a good job,
however, regarding this by design issue, I really appreciated your
understanding that we do not have such funcationality directly and
beautifully.

Excel Rendering - Urgent

I have a fairly simple report (with a lot of columns) that I'm trying to
export to Excel. Everytime I do this, I get the following error:
"Excel Rendering Extension: Width of excel cell in the excel sheet exceeded
the maximum limit of 1726.5 Points."
I know that 1726.5 equates to 255 characters in a column, but when I export
to CSV and check the lengths of every value, none of them reach 255.
Is there a workaround to this bug?
Any guidance on this matter would be much apprecited.

to Excel, RS will combine all the columns into one single cell in Excel. One
way to solve this is to shrink the width of all the columns so that the total
length is less than 255 characters.

This is not a catastrophe; I will structure the report differently to work
around the problem, but I thought RS Engineering might want to hear about it.
The report contains a table followed by a textbox. One of the cells in the
table contains a formula like this:
=ReportItems!TextBoxInThisTable.Value *
ReportItems!TextBoxOnTheSecondPage.Value
This is rendered properly within the report designer and to excel. In
excel, the table data and the standalone textbox are rendered correctly and
the cell containing the formula is calculated correctly. The excel version
retains the formula which something like: _123 * _456.
So far so good.
The problem arises when I define a PageBreakAfter attribute on the table.
Before applying the hotfix, when I attempted to save as excel, report
designer generated the error as described in kb883501: "Excel Rendering
Extension : Width of excel cell in the excel sheet exceeded the maximum limit
of 1726.5 Points."
After the hotfix, the report designer saves the file, but the resulting file
contains a fatal flaw:
The cell containing the formula simply displays the value contained in
ReportItems!TextBoxInThisTable. When I click on the offending cell to view
the formula, Excel crashes with this signature:
AppName: excel.exe AppVer: 11.0.6355.0 AppStamp:40aa979f
ModName: excel.exe ModVer: 11.0.6355.0 ModStamp:40aa979f
fDebug: 0 Offset: 0010be7e
My guess is that this is related to the fact that Excel has always disliked
formulae that refer to cells in other sheets, though there are ways of
"tricking it" into working.

Excel Pop-up

Hi,

In a particular report, i've got the following pop-up when opening the excel export:

(translation from french: "Name already used - Name can't be identical to a predefined name").

It seems that there is a problem with names generated automatically for cells references.

When I suppress report's header, the pop-up doesn't appear.
